Hyatt is preparing to introduce its Hyatt Regency brand to the Maldives with the opening of Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives, a new all-villa resort scheduled to welcome its first guests in late 2027.
Located in North Male Atoll, only 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, the resort will combine an easily accessible location with the privacy of a Maldivian island retreat.
Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives will become Hyatt’s third resort in the archipelago, joining Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa and Alila Kothaifaru Maldives.

The resort is being developed by Singapore-based real estate group SingHaiyi, which already owns Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives. Hyatt will operate the property under a management agreement.
Hyatt Regency Samarafushi. What we know
The future Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives is expected to be located in North Male Atoll, approximately 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport.
Spread across 24 acres, approximately 10 hectares, the resort will feature 130 beachfront, treetop and overwater villas, each with its own private pool.
The introduction of treetop villas is particularly interesting, adding a less conventional accommodation style to the classic mix of beach and overwater villas usually found in the Maldives.
A Natural Design Inspired by the Maldivian Reefs
Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives is being designed by Singapore architectural studio Park + Associates, which is responsible for the resort’s masterplan, architecture and interiors.
According to the studio, the concept draws inspiration from the surrounding coral reefs and the wider Maldivian marine environment. Natural textures, soft colours and fluid forms will be used throughout the resort to create a calm, contemporary atmosphere while referencing traditional Maldivian architecture.
The first renderings reveal low-rise villas, organic shapes and a light, natural palette that allows the island and lagoon to remain at the heart of the design.

Restaurants, Wellness and Family Facilities
Dining options are expected to include a sunset bar, a beach club, a Japanese speciality restaurant and an all-day dining venue.
The resort will also introduce a signature Regency Club lounge, offering refreshments to World of Hyatt Globalist members and guests staying in villas with club access.
Other planned facilities include:
- A marine and diving centre
- A dedicated kids’ club
- A fitness pavilion
- A yoga deck
- A spa with eight treatment rooms
With its extensive facilities and variety of villas, Hyatt Regency Samarafushi appears to be positioning itself as a resort for couples and families alike.
A 25-Minute Speedboat Transfer from Male
One of the resort’s main advantages will be its convenient location. Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives will be reachable in approximately 25 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, avoiding the need for a domestic flight or seaplane transfer.
The island will also provide access to some of North Male Atoll’s well-known surfing, diving and snorkelling areas. Hyatt specifically mentions nearby surf breaks including Pasta Point and Sultans.

Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives Opening Date
The opening of Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives is currently scheduled for late 2027.
Since resort development timelines in the Maldives can evolve, this date remains subject to change.
Once open, the resort will mark the debut of the Hyatt Regency brand in the country and further expand Hyatt’s presence across the archipelago.
