The upcoming Mondrian Maldives, set to open on Kuredhivaru Island in Noonu Atoll, will be the brand’s first resort in the country. Its opening is set for 2026.
When Mövenpick Resort Kuredhivaru Maldives opened its doors in November 2018, it quickly became known for its refined barefoot luxury, blending Swiss hospitality with the natural beauty of Noonu Atoll.
Today, the island is writing a new story. As of early 2025, the property has officially begun a rebranding journey, operating under the new name Kuredhivaru Resort & Spa.
The resort remains open and fully functional while undergoing a series of enhancements that mark the transition toward its next identity : Mondrian Maldives.

This transformation is part of Accor’s broader move to reposition the island within its lifestyle luxury portfolio. The transition involves architectural refurbishments and design updates, including newly upgraded beach villas and residences, a refreshed dining concept, and future enhancements to the overwater villas scheduled through 2026.
Beyond the visual changes, the rebranding signals a shift in energy. While Mövenpick stood for quiet sophistication and family-friendly hospitality, Mondrian is known for its bold, creative spirit and art-driven design but rooted in the same turquoise serenity that made Kuredhivaru beloved in the first place.
