Island Hideaway Resort & Spa is one of the most remote and beautiful Island Resort of Maldives.
Nested on the stunning Island of Dhonakulhi in the unspoiled Northern Atoll of Haa Alifu, the island is a true private hideaway.
To reach this hidden gem, you will fly for 50 mns with Maldivian, the Maldivian Airline Company, before landing at the small Domestic Hanimadhoo Airport where your Butler will wait for you. From there, a 20 mns speedboat ride will bring you to your Island.
The delicate service from Island Hideaway starts right from there: Home-Made refreshments, sweets and nibbles will be served onboard, meanwhile you enjoy the landscape.

The small over water restaurant serves fine dining authentic Asian cuisine and seafood in a very intimate and unique location. Situated close to the reef edge, it is designed to offer a maximum sights and sounds of the Ocean. This cosy place is a must for Asiatic Food lovers with a fine and selected choice of Indian, Thai and Japanese cuisine.

Meeru Bar
Turned to the Sunset side, the main Bar is open to the sea and has both a friendly and intimate atmosphere and serves drinks and snacks made only with top ingredients. This is a great place to be for a relaxing or a fun time at any moment of the day. Meeru Bar is renown to have the largest Malt Whisky collection in the Indian Ocean.

The beautiful pool bar is located right in the middle of the pool.
The place is beautifully designed and generally very quiet. There, sitting in the blue, you can chill and have a cool drink meanwhile looking at the sea.

Island Hideaway Maldives Diving and snorkeling

Diving in Haa Alifu Atoll is another experience from the ones that can be done in Central Maldives. There, no commercial diving activity or big groups of divers. This gives an excellent opportunity for new divers and old alike to genuinely be able to dive where no person has ever dived before. The Island has over 20 great untouched dive sites within a 5-60 minute range. Operated by Meridis Dive & Relax the Center is one of the physically largest dive centres in the Maldives, providing the latest technology and highest quality branded diving equipment. Meridis Dive & Relax has in fact surveyed and mapped all the key diving points in the Atolls surrounding the Island and they estimate that there are at least 20 glorious dive sites that are absolutely untouched and unspoiled.
You will be able to discover particular dive site where turtles can be expected at each dive, several dive sites with manta cleaning and feeding stations, 1 ship wrecks at a depth of 14 metres with fantastic fish live around, and other sites full of fantastic table corals.
WE LOVE that an underwater camera has been set in the nearby lagoon to give live views of life by the coral reef.

SNORKELING

Dhonakulhi has its own house reef 10-30 metres away with amazing coral walls all along the East-side - ( see the snorkeling and diving aerial view in the map sections for a better look at the location ).
The snorkeling at Island Hideaway is really very impressive due to the wildness and particular location of the island on a channel : right on the house reef, just under the water’s surface you are confronted with swarms of small fish, giant turtles, metre-long mantas and slim sharks patrolling the reef. Beginners will stay inside the House reef for best safety and advanced will try the long walls outside from it.

PAY ATTENTION : Have a chat with the Dive Center before going to explore the outside walls! Currents can be dangerous.
Don't miss the guided snorkeling tours organized by the Dive Center. Day and night snorkeling are organized daily.

DIVING

Meridis Dive & Relax has full Nitrox diving facilities, underwater scooters, audio-visual classrooms and a dive specialist boutique.
PADI-certified scuba instruction is given by multi-lingual dive experts to beginners, amateurs and experienced divers alike on the importance of safe and enjoyable diving intertwined with the protection of the marine environment.
Dives are organized for groups of 4 Divers maximum and NITROX is free for Nitrox certified divers!
The Center offers beginner’s discovery courses to more advanced Nitrox, deep water and rescue dives and has a range of programs to suit everyone. A decompression chamber is only 15 minutes away.
Some of the courses and services offered by Meridis are PADI Open Water (Beginner) up to Dive Master and all other common specialties, Nitrox, Scooter, Photography, Deep, Drift, Night, Navigation, Naturalist and Peak Performance.
Meridis also offers a safe and enjoyable diving experience for children over 10 years of age, and has special “kids diving equipment” for this.
Children can carry out the PADI Open Water Junior course.
Some of Meridis Dive’s safety philosophies are : Nitrox diving; depth limits; small groups of a maximum of 4 people; all dives are guided dives; buoys for all divers ; current check ; easy and shallow dives.

PAY ATTENTION : Please note that all divers are required to present an international dive certificate, log book and a medical certificate of fitness for diving.

Half day and Full day trips are available. Departure for diving in private with one of the speedboat is flexible.
